Patricia Barber's alone style and unusual voice made her an light mark for critics in the early days of her career. Her forte-piano performing and vocalizing, patch inventive, never ventured close sufficiency to the van to earn her artistic licence, and her imperativeness on writing her have material and adapting songs from the pop domain made her difficult to categorize. A industrious performer world Health Organization refused to conform to more conventional outspoken malarky idioms, she worked her means up through the Chicago nothingness scene easy, nigh reluctantly, after having exhausted several long time in Iowa attendance college and acting with local groups.

The daughter of Floyd "Shim" Barber and a vapours vocalizer, she had all merely spurned the thought of becoming a malarkey musician, only set up herself drawn to the acting world after college. She signed a narrow with Verve and released A Distortion of Love in 1992, which brought her some positive critical attention and earned her a more national audience, only the big-label live was nerve-wracking for Barber and she sought a place where she could induce more than creative controller. Her adjacent deuce albums were issued by the tiny local judge Premonition (1994's Café Blue and 1998's Mod Cool).

Forewarning was purchased by Blue Note in 1998, and the tag put some marketing muscleman behind Barber, helping to bolster the international reputation she had already begun to garner. Blue Note released Companion in 1999 -- intended to dissemble as her introduction to a wider audience, the album reprised much of her pop material and was recorded live at Chicago's Green Mill, a historic jazz lodge where Barber had been playacting weekly for several long time. 2000's Dark Club took her back into a studio apartment setting, merely still featured many of the inventive interpretations that had magisterial her ferment in the past times. Lily Allen - Lily Guests On Kaisers Album

LILY ALLEN has recorded some backing vocals for the forthcoming KAISER CHEIFS album, which is currently being produced by Mark Ronson.

Bassist Simon Rix said that the Smile star was in the studio as she is a friend of the band and Ronson's, so her contribution was essentially an impromptu performance, reports the BBC.

"Whether or not it makes it on the record is another question but we’re just trying stuff out and trying songs and we’ve written quite a few songs – some get scrapped and some get kept," he said.

Ronson has spoken of his involvement in the project, saying that the band has "written some great songs" and that he has approached his role as "a huge fan".

Elsewhere, Now magazine recently reported that LILY ALLEN threw a rowdy party at a rented bungalow in Los Angeles, causing other guests to complain until staff stepped in to stem the noise.

Frenchman accused of trying to broker sale of stolen Monet faces U.S. charge

MIAMI - A French man allegedly involved in the theft of paintings by Claude Monet and two other artists has been charged in the United States with attempting to broker the sale of the works to undercover FBI agents, federal prosecutors said Friday.

Bernard Jean Ternus, 55, was indicted by a grand jury on a single count of conspiring to sell the paintings stolen in August 2007 by masked gunmen from the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Nice, France, federal prosecutors said.

The paintings are Monet's "Cliffs Near Dieppe;" "The Lane of Poplars at Moret" by Alfred Sisley; and two 17th-century works by Jan Brueghel the Elder: "Allegory of Earth" and "Allegory of Water."

All four were recovered in Marseille June 4, after a deal was struck to sell them to the FBI undercover agents for three million euros. French national police arrested at least two other men when the art was found.

Ternus is a French citizen who lives in Cooper City, Fla., a suburb north of Miami, and several of the alleged meetings with the FBI agents took place in Miami, according to the indictment. Ternus was already in U.S. custody on a visa fraud charge. His lawyer in that case did not immediately respond Friday to an e-mail seeking comment.

According to the indictment, Ternus first met with the FBI agents in October to begin negotiations for the sale of the paintings. Those talks continued for several months in Miami and other locations, including Barcelona, Spain.

The visa fraud charge involves Ternus' alleged failure to admit on a visa application that he had been arrested in the past. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents later determined that Ternus has been arrested at least seven times in France, accused of crimes ranging from breaking and entering to robbery to assault with a deadly weapon, according to court documents.

The Monet and Sisley paintings have been stolen before from the museum in Nice. In 1998, the curator at the time staged a "heist" in which he seemed to be taken hostage by thieves who took the two Impressionist works.

The curator was later convicted and sent to prison, and the paintings were recovered from a boat docked in Nice's harbour.

The Sisley painting also was stolen in 1978 while on loan at an exhibit in Marseille.
